Everyone that visited our property on farm tours wanted to know where the horses were.  There were none.  So, we acquired two Mini Shetland Ponies.  Mini Shetland Ponies originate from the Shetland Islands, a group of islands belonging to Scotland.  These ponies are known for the small size, strength and resilience to harsh climate.  The Shetland ponies are the world's strongest horses in relation to their size.  They can cart or pull about twice their own weight.  They are known for having a wide forehead and large expressive eyes, a long full mane.  Their coat is smooth and shiny in the summer and long and shaggy in the winter.
